About

“Kurioser and kurioser” (like the name, “Allan Him”) is a poor Anglo-Greek pun. Those who can actually speak Greek may feel free to sneer at this point.

For the record, my real name is James Goodman. This site is an easily accessible home for a series of notes on Mark’s Gospel, which have been put together for a variety of other purposes- initially for a group I teach in my church, and then for a group at my workplace.

The tagline, “Read Mark, learn, and inwardly digest” is taken slightly out of context from the Book of Common Prayer, which contains the following excellent prayer (doubtless reflecting the radical emphasis of the Protestant Reformation on scripture)…

“Blessed Lord, who hast caused all holy Scriptures to be written for our learning; Grant that we may in such wise hear them read, mark, learn, and inwardly digest them, that by patience, and comfort of thy holy Word, we may embrace, and ever hold fast the blessed hope of everlasting life.”
